About Us

We're Shawn & Letitia Blake, the folks behind the Facebook page "Nothing Like Homegrown." We love sharing gardening tips, pictures, and community events. It all started in 2021 when we decided to make tie-dye shirts to wear to local events and festivals. Since then, it's become a real passion for us. We both love getting creative with the twisting and tying, but I'm the main dye enthusiast! In January 2023, I started experimenting with the Ice Dye technique and haven't looked back since. Seeing the smiles our tie-dyes bring genuinely warms our hearts. People always ask us, "How did you do that with ice?" We can't wait to see what we'll come up with next. Come along with us on this exciting journey – we'd love to have you join us!

Our HomeGrown Tie dyes are hand-dyed in small batches by Shawn and Letitia in our Central Missouri home. We use Procion fiber reactive dyes, which are professional-strength commercial dyes, to create vibrant and unique art pieces. The colors stay vivid for the life of the shirt. We work with 100% pre-shrunk organic fabrics. During our Tie-Dye process, we wash all of our creations multiple times in hot water with a professional-strength detergent designed to remove any excess dye particles that fail to bond to the fabric permanently. Rest assured, your new tie-dye will be safe to wash with your other clothes, and it will not bleed dye.
